Fairstead Hosts Community Day Celebration at Woodside Gardens Apartments

Woodside Gardens Residents, Property Owner and Manager Fairstead and Government Officials Came Together to Celebrate Recently-Completed Renovations with a Ribbon Cutting

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (October 25, 2023) – Fairstead, a purpose-driven, vertically integrated real estate company committed to sustainable development and the creation and preservation of high-quality housing, hosted a community day and ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday at Woodside Gardens Apartments in celebration of recently completed renovations at the development.

Woodside Gardens, a 144-unit affordable housing development owned and managed by Fairstead, recently completed major renovations totaling $15 million, along with the construction of a new 2,300 square-foot community building. The renovations brought a new picnic area and accessible parking spaces to the site, new roofs, electrical service and HVAC to the buildings, and in-unit renovations such as new appliances, flooring and fixtures. The community building provides space for the property management offices, Social Services office, a classroom for student after-school activities, a computer room for residents, and accessible laundry, restrooms and a community room.

Approximately one hundred residents attended the event, where they enjoyed a range of family-friendly activities and entertainment, including music, face painting and a bounce house. Attendees also enjoyed a barbeque meal and had access to resources from a variety of local community organizations.

This development was well overdue for a facelift, and the approach that was taken was phenomenal, said Annapolis Alderwoman Sheila Finlayson (Ward 4). “The new community center is a tremendous asset, providing residents with space for workshops, courses, and other opportunities for growth.”

Woodside Gardens is composed of 13 garden-style apartment buildings containing 2 and 3-bedroom units. The development contains 8 units that were renovated and reconfigured to comply with UFAS & ANSI Type A accessibility requirements, and 7 additional units are now designated for the hearing and visually impaired as required by the MD Accessibility code & City of Annapolis.

The renovations at Woodside Gardens began in April 2022, and were completed in early October 2023.
