Brookline’s Pelham Hall Welcomes Boston Veterinary Clinic Pet Care

Press Release | 11/22/22

Reimagined retail space at Fairstead’s luxury rental building brings new amenities for residents and the community.

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Fairstead, a purpose-driven, vertically integrated real estate developer, today announced that the Boston Veterinary Clinic has opened a new location at the base of Pelham Hall, the landmark residential building located in the heart of Coolidge Corner in Brookline. With a focus on wellness, Boston Veterinary Clinic takes a modern approach to pet care.

“Our beloved furry residents at Pelham Hall and their friends across the Brookline community deserve top-of-the-line care, and pet parents deserve amenities that will meet their everyday needs,” said Rob Dunn, Senior Director, Asset Management at Fairstead. “We are always looking to curate our retail spaces with services that will make our residents’ lives better and more convenient, and we’re especially excited when we can help a local business grow. Boston Veterinary Clinic’s new location at Pelham Hall will expand and enhance their services in Coolidge Corner.”

Boston Veterinary Clinic, which is one of the first practices in the Boston area to be Fear-Free certified, provides preventative, sick, and emergency care for cats and dogs and specialty care for puppies, kittens, and exotic animals, as well as alternative care services, across the Boston area. Boston Veterinary Clinic has locations at the Seaport and in Bay Village. With the opening of their clinic at Pelham Hall, they are reestablishing their presence in Brookline after leaving a smaller location earlier this year.

“Boston Veterinary Clinic has been serving Brookline and the surrounding communities of Coolidge Corner since 2018,” said Paul Mataras, Chief Executive Officer of Boston Veterinary Clinic. “We are excited to continue to provide exceptional, fear free care for our canine, feline and exotic patients and their guardians in our new, 3,900 SF state-of-the-art facility at Pelham Hall. Our partners at Fairstead have enthusiastically embraced our unique business model as both a value-added amenity for their residents and a unique and vital service to the community.”

The innovative, primary care practice is equipped with seven exam rooms – three for cats and four for dogs – with a broad array of services for canine and feline patients. The new Brookline clinic will have a “cat clinic” within a clinic, featuring a separate cat-only waiting room, three cat-only exam rooms and a separate cat-only treatment room.

In 2020, Fairstead acquired Pelham Hall, a 148-unit residence with ground-floor retail space. Boston Veterinary Clinic joins local institution and Japanese cuisine favorite Fugakyu at the building.

Fairstead undertook renovations at Pelham Hall that maintained the building’s landmark art-deco details while refreshing the floor plans and common areas – from the introduction of open-concept kitchens to energy efficient appliances. At the ground level, Fairstead also reimagined the retail spaces to better elevate the vibrancy of the neighborhood.

Boston Veterinary Clinic leased 3,900 square feet of retail space on the ground-floor of Pelham Hall, located at 1284 Beacon Street. Conviser Property Group represented Fairstead and Boston Urban Partners represented Boston Veterinary Care.

“Conviser Property Group would like to thank Fairstead and Boston Urban for their collective efforts to bring the Boston Veterinary Clinic to Coolidge Corner and 1284 Beacon Street. The dogs and cats are all paws up!” said Adam Conviser and Jim Conviser.

Pelham Hall is part of Fairstead’s portfolio of 5,000 market-rate homes, which also includes 1500 Locust in Philadelphia, PA, the Chocolate Factory Lofts in Brooklyn, NY, and La Rochelle in Manhattan, NY.
