Affordable housing — or lack thereof — is one of the most pressing issues facing cities across the country, including here in Virginia. And as we grapple with the economic fallout from COVID-19, the need for affordable housing has become even more acute.
In fact, Virginia is short 140,000 homes for extremely low-income renters making less than 30 percent of Area Median Income, according to a recent study by the National Low Income Housing Coalition.
